Project Platform

Elera is an operations dashboard for a clinic: one screen that answers who is in the building, what they are waiting for, and what it is costing. A live occupancy table lists every patient with their reason for visit, assigned clinician, triage or treatment status and room. Around it sit the numbers a practice manager is actually judged on — gross revenue, room occupancy, seen versus scheduled, staff utilisation — each with the delta that tells you whether today is going well. A peak-activity chart highlights the current hour against the rest of the day, so a queue forming at 4pm is visible before it becomes a complaint. A second surface covers pharmacy and labs: lab orders with their stage and result, a dispense queue, and stock alerts that count down in days of cover rather than units left.

The Challenge

Clinic software splits this picture across systems: an EMR holds the patients, a rota tool holds the staff, and claims live in spreadsheets. Answering "are we running late, and what is it costing us" means three tools and a phone call. The design problem was density — patients, rooms, revenue, staffing, insurance claims and policy tasks all belong on one screen, and the obvious result is a wall of numbers nobody reads.

The Solution

The dashboard is organised around the patient journey rather than around the systems the data comes from. Status is carried by colour-coded pills (In Treatment, Waiting, Completed) so the occupancy table scans in a glance instead of being read row by row. Metrics lead with the figure and carry their change beside it, so a 60% room occupancy that is down 5% reads as one thought. The task queue is the part that earns its place: every item shows its money and its deadline — a denied insurance claim with the amount and days remaining to appeal, an overtime approval with the cost it incurs, a supplier price increase, a pending HIPAA policy review — so the list is ordered by consequence rather than by arrival.
